A 63-year-old man has been charged with felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor criminal trespass after authorities said he crashed through the front gate of hip-hop mogul JAŸ-Z and his wife Beyoncé’s East Hampton estate, damaging the property’s security entrance.

According to law enforcement, the driver accelerated up the driveway of the waterfront residence and struck the estate’s mechanical gate without braking. The collision caused significant property damage and prompted an immediate police response.

Officers arrested the man at the scene and impounded his vehicle. Authorities later transported him to Stony Brook Hospital after he reported experiencing pain. Investigators have not released his identity.

Police said the investigation has uncovered no evidence that the incident deliberately targeted JAŸ-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, or Beyoncé. Detectives said the driver made no threats and did not mention either homeowner during the encounter.

Detective Sgt. Jennifer Dunn, one of the responding officers, told Page Six that investigators believe the driver’s conduct may have stemmed from a medical issue rather than criminal intent.

“He did not make any threats or mention names of the residents,” Dunn said. “It could just be chance he picked that house if he was having a medical issue.”

Dunn added that the man stopped at another nearby residence before arriving at the Carters’ estate while searching for a woman who did not live there. Investigators are examining that encounter as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Authorities have not disclosed whether JAŸ-Z or Beyoncé were at the East Hampton property when the crash occurred. Police also said no residents, employees or responding officers suffered injuries.

The criminal case remains under investigation as detectives determine whether medical factors contributed to the collision. Authorities have not announced whether the defendant will undergo additional medical evaluations as the prosecution moves forward.

For now, prosecutors have alleged property-related offenses only. Investigators emphasized that they have found no indication the crash was a targeted act against the celebrity couple, whose East Hampton residence sustained damage to its front security gate during the incident.
