Nelly & Ashanti Release Season 2 Trailer For Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together

Nelly and Ashanti are giving fans another intimate look at their relationship, family life, and careers in the second season of Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together.

Peacock released a new trailer for the reality series, featuring Ashanti in the studio rerecording her 2002 self-titled debut album. The R&B singer is reclaiming her music through new versions she can own and control.

“It’s so important to show women’s empowerment, and understanding the power of ownership is major,” Ashanti says in the nearly two-and-a-half-minute preview.

Originally released through Murder Inc. and Def Jam, Ashanti debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The album featured career-defining hits, including “Foolish,” “Happy” and “Baby.”

However, Ashanti did not own the original master recordings. Her decision to rerecord the album revisits a longstanding music industry debate about artists’ rights and ownership. The late Murder Inc. cofounder Irv Gotti criticized her plans in 2021, having publicly claimed ownership of the original masters.

The trailer also highlights Ashanti’s gratitude for rapper Fat Joe’s support throughout the project. She previously celebrated the completed recordings with friends and family at an intimate listening event on June 17.

Meanwhile, Nelly and Ashanti navigate demanding schedules while raising their two-year-old son, Kareem. The couple splits time between St. Louis and New York City, balancing parenting, touring and their relationship.

Nelly reflects on the physical demands of performing and questions how long he can maintain his relentless schedule. An unexpected family loss also forces the couple to reconsider their priorities and cherish time with loved ones.

The upcoming season also revisits the couple’s experience attending Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding celebration this summer, adding another glimpse into their lives beyond the spotlight.

Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together returns to Peacock on Thursday, Nov. 19. All eight episodes of Season 2 will premiere simultaneously. Fans can also stream every episode of the show’s first season on the platform.
