LeBron reaches another insane NBA milestone with 12,000th assist

LeBron James became just the fourth player in NBA history to reach 12,000 career assists during the Lakers' matchup against the Suns on Friday.

His 12,000th came during the first quarter when James lobbed a pass across the court to DeAndre Ayton under the basket. He joins John Stockton (15,806), Chris Paul (12,552), and Jason Kidd (12,091) as the only players to achieve the feat. 

Late last month, James set to the NBA record for the most games ever played when he reached 1,612th during the Lakers' March 21st matchup against the Orlando Magic, surpassing Robert Parish, who had held the record since he retired in 1977.

"It just kind of happened," said James, regarding the most games played. "It was not on the list of things that I wanted to accomplish. Games played, all-time leader in points ... 10-point streak, those things was not in my mind."

"I wanted to be the greatest, one of the greatest, if not the greatest ever to play this game. I wanted to be an NBA champion. I wanted to possibly win Rookie of the Year, make All-Star appearances, win a gold medal, win some MVPs ... those were some of my goals."

Heading into Friday's matchup against the Suns, James was averaging 20.9 points, 71. assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game. The Lakers are currently 51-29 and hold the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference as the NBA Playoffs are right around the corner.
