The Los Angeles Lakers ruled out superstar Luka Doncic for the remainder of the regular season with a Grade 2 hamstring injury, according to multiple NBA insiders.

Doncic, 27, tweaked his hamstring during the team's 139-96 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday, not playing in the remainder of the game.

His agent, Bill Duffy, announced that they will be "applying for an 'Extraordinary Circumstances Challenge' to the 65-game rule" so that Doncic can maintain his status in the MVP race.

Doncic had missed one game after being suspended upon receiving his 16th technical foul on the season and missed another couple of games back in December after the birth of his daughter. Since he'll miss the rest of the regular season, Doncic will finish with 64 games played, falling just one short of being eligible for awards.

He currently averages the league-best 33.5 points on top of 8.3 assists and 7.7 rebounds per game.

The Lakers currently have five games left in the regular season and sit in third place in the Western Conference with a 50-27 record, sitting just one game ahead of the Denver Nuggets (49-28).

Their next five games are: @ Dallas Mavericks (April 5th), vs. Thunder (April 7th), @ Golden State Warriors (April 9th), then two home games against the Phoenix Suns (April 10th) and Utah Jazz (April 12th).

Mexico agrees to host Iran at World Cup

Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum has agreed to allow Iran to be based in the country during the World Cup, claiming the United States were unwilling to host them.  Sheinbaum said her government had been approached by Fifa after the US made it clear it did not want Iran's squad to stay in the country during the tournament. "We have no reason to deny them the possibility of staying in Mexico," Sheinbaum said. "The United States does not want the Iranian team to stay overnight, but they are
