Rihanna kept it low-key while stepping out in New York City on Sunday. The Fenty Beauty founder paired a casual look with the Jacquemus + Nike Moon Shoe sneakers, once again endorsing them as the shoe of the summer. She paired the chocolate-brown shoes with wide-leg jeans in a medium blue shade, a cream quarter-zip sweater, and a Burberry Kensington trench coat in honey beige. She topped the look off with a navy blue and burgundy Miu Miu Drill Baseball Cap and a chunky gold necklace.

The Jacquemus + Nike Moon Shoe sneakers are made from crinkled-effect nylon. Rihanna’s pair was the “Medium Brown” colorway that featured a cream-white leather Swoosh and rear overlay. An embossed mini Swoosh is also featured on the lace tip, while the Jacquemus logo label sits on the shoes’ tongues. A striped Jacquemus logo label is also stitched onto the insole. The shoes are designed with a slim Nike Grind rubber outsole for traction, which is made from recycled materials.

The slim shoe silhouette is currently a major trend in footwear, with brands like Vivaia, Fendi, Prada, Dior and more releasing sneakers that are narrower at the toe and have a thin sole that leaves the feet closer to the ground. The shoes blend the track-racer origins with a modern, ballet aesthetic.

The Moon Shoes originally retailed for $180 when they were first released in March. The shoes are part of Simon Porte Jacquemus‘ fourth footwear collaboration with Nike, and the new style was inspired by the company’s running history and DNA.

For the first time, Bill Bowerman’s hand-built Moon Shoe from 1972 was reinterpreted with modern details. To pay homage, the Moon Shoes come in vintage-inspired packaging echoing the original Moon Shoe design, as well as the “Blue Ribbon Sports” badge paying tribute to Nike’s origins.

Rihanna is seen on May 17 in New York City.

Rihanna caused quite a stir on social media in May when she was first spotted wearing the Nike sneakers since she has been a longtime partner and collaborator of Puma. After joining the company as a creative director in 2014, Rihanna revived their collaboration in 2023, releasing a variety of new designs under the Fenty x Puma collection.

Now, after she was spotted wearing the Moon Shoes three times in a span of a few weeks, there are reports that she would not be extending her Puma partnership. FN has reached out to the sportswear brand for comment. See more show-stopping Rihanna sneaker moments below.
