Miley Cyrus will commemorate the 20th anniversary of “Hannah Montana,” the Disney Channel sitcom that launched her acting and singing career, with a special set to air in March, featuring an interview with “Call Her Daddy” host Alex Cooper.
Cyrus said in a statement “Hannah Montana” will “always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection.”

Cyrus starred as the titular character who led a double life as a pop star in “Hannah Montana,” which aired on Disney Channel between 2006 and 2011 and spawned a media franchise, including multiple soundtrack albums, a feature film, a concert tour and a theatrically released concert film. “Hannah Montana” has remained enduringly popular and has been ranked by some critics as one of the best Disney Channel series of all time, and it earned four Emmy Award nominations for outstanding children’s program.
The series helped launch Cyrus’ career, as she had begun releasing her own music and starred in films during the show’s run, though she garnered attention in the early 2010s as her solo music releases—like “Can’t Be Tamed” and “We Can’t Stop”—appeared to clash with her Disney star image.
Cyrus has since said “Hannah Montana” gave her an “identity crisis,” saying in a 2021 interview she felt it was “drilled into my head” that “without being Hannah Montana, no one cares about you.” Cyrus, though, said in 2024 she is “forever grateful” to have played Hannah Montana after Disney named her a Disney Legend, dedicating the award to “Hannah Montana and all of her fans.”
Cyrus previously said in an interview last year she wanted to “design something really, really special” for the 20th anniversary of “Hannah Montana,” saying it would be “exciting” to celebrate. Rumors had swirled in recent weeks whether Cyrus would announce something for the show’s anniversary, which Cyrus bolstered last week by postingthrowback photos from the “Hannah Montana” set.
