54-year-old Michael K. Williams was found dead by his nephew in the actor’s Brooklyn apartment Monday afternoon.  Famous for his role as "Omar Little" on the Wire, fans in pop and hip hop culture will be ripped apart by the loss of Williams who brought class and character to every role he played.

The Brooklyn native's role as Omar made him a pop culture phenomenon and pushed this limits of sexuality within the black community as it related to being a gangster.  Williams also starred in Boardwalk Empire, 12 Years a Slave, and Assasin's Creed. He will be missed.

It is suspected that he passed away from a drug overdose in his Brooklyn penthouse Monday afternoon.

Drug paraphernalia was found in the five-time Emmy nominee’s apartment, suggesting the acclaimed 54-year-old actor may have fatally overdosed, possibly from heroin or fentanyl.

Williams had openly admitted about his personal issues with drugs over the years.
