Kanye West Barred from Australia Over Controversial “Heil Hitler” Track

Kanye West has been barred from entering Australia after releasing Heil Hitler,” a song that praises Adolf Hitler and promotes Nazi ideology.

The decision to revoke his visa followed a swift review of the track’s inflammatory content. Australia’s Minister for Home Affairs, Tony Burke, confirmed the move on Wednesday, July 2. Burke pointed to West’s history of offensive remarks and the antisemitic themes in the song as key reasons for the ban.

“He’s made plenty of offensive statements, and my officials reassessed them once this song appeared,” Burke told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

The track, which samples a 1935 Hitler speech, has been removed from major streaming platforms after human rights groups and political leaders condemned it. Critics say West’s song tries to spread antisemitism under the cover of artistic expression.

West had applied for a lower-tier visa, reportedly to visit family. His wife, Bianca Censori, was born and raised in Melbourne, where her family still lives.

Burke said officials reviewed the law and found West’s actions clashed with Australia’s values. “If you’re going to promote Nazism, we don’t need that here,” he said. He added that the country faces enough challenges without importing more hatred.

The minister did not say whether the ban is permanent. He stressed that visa decisions are made individually and that Australia will continue to block hate speech at its borders.

The backlash has spread beyond Australia. In Slovakia, thousands have signed a petition urging Rubicon Festival to drop West from its lineup.

The petition calls him “one of the world’s most prominent antisemites” and notes the track’s release on the 80th anniversary of Nazi Germany’s defeat. Activists warn that his appearance could attract extremists and fuel hate-based ideology.

As outrage grows, Kanye West’s future bookings face heightened scrutiny.
