JAŸ-Z went viral on Saturday night, May 30, after dropping a new freestyle during his headlining performance at the 2026 Roots Picnic that dissed Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tory Lanez, Damon Dash, Ye, and Texas attorney Tony Buzbee.
The Brooklyn mogul’s rare solo appearance already carried major anticipation. However, it was a pointed freestyle near the start of his set that sent fans racing to social media for answers. Within minutes, clips spread across social media with listeners debating whether JAŸ-Z had taken aim at several of the industry’s most recognizable names.

One of the biggest talking points involved Drake. Fans quickly connected one of Jay-Z’s sharpest bars to recent lyrics from Drake’s album Iceman, fueling speculation that the rap titan was responding directly to the Toronto superstar.
“The jig is up, n****, I’m up 10, wrong chart champ, n**** looked up to Hov, I never looked up to them,” Hov rapped.
The lyric immediately drew comparisons to Drake’s line from “Janice STFU,” where he rapped, “We know how you OGs rockin’ already, my n****, the jig is up.” Neither artist has publicly addressed the apparent connection, but the exchange became one of the festival’s most discussed moments.
