The Atlanta Falcons signed guard Matthew Bergeron to a four-year, $96 million contract extension on Saturday with $60 million guaranteed.

Bergeron, 26, finished last season with a 70.8 overall rating, which ranked 22nd out of 81 qualified guards.

The former 38th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft has played in every game in his three years with the Falcons, except for two last season after sustaining an ankle injury.

"Matthew is the type of player you build around,"said Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham. "He's establishing himself as one of the top young guards in the NFL, and his toughness, consistency and leadership have made him a cornerstone of our offensive line and the culture we're building in Atlanta."

Bergeron allowed just one sack last season on 519 pass-blocking snaps, along with 28 pressures and seven QB hits.

"Extending players like Matthew reflects our commitment to investing in the trenches and building a strong foundation for the future. We're very excited he will be a Falcon for years to come. We also appreciate Chase Callahan for his professionalism, communication, and partnership throughout this process."

Atlanta kick-off their regular season on September 13th against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
