Chris Brown Pleads Guilty To London’s Nightclub Attack

R&B singer Chris Brown pleaded guilty Friday to one count of affray in London’s Southwark Crown Court, resolving a substantial portion of the criminal case arising from a 2023 altercation at a Mayfair nightclub that injured music producer Abraham Diaw.

Brown changed his plea after previously denying the allegations. In exchange, prosecutors withdrew charges of assault, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon. Brown’s friend and vocal coach, Omololu Akinlolu, also entered a guilty plea to affray. Both men had been scheduled to stand trial in October.

The prosecution stemmed from a February 2023 incident at Tape nightclub in London’s Mayfair district. Prosecutors alleged Brown struck Diaw twice with a glass bottle before the confrontation escalated in front of numerous patrons. According to the Crown Prosecution Service, surveillance footage captured the incident inside the crowded venue.

Following the hearing, Senior Crown Prosecutor Claire Campbell characterized the assault as a serious act of violence.

“This was a vicious and unprovoked attack by Brown and Akinlolu in a crowded nightclub where Brown used a glass bottle as a weapon to strike the victim’s head twice,” Campbell said.

Campbell added that the guilty pleas reinforce the prosecution’s commitment to pursuing violent offenses regardless of a defendant’s celebrity status.

“This kind of violence is entirely unacceptable, and the Crown Prosecution Service will work tirelessly, with the police and partners across the criminal justice system, to pursue cases like this and prove that no one is above the law,” she said.

The court continued Brown’s £5 million bail pending sentencing, allowing him to remain at liberty until his Oct. 26 sentencing hearing. Under English law, affray carries a maximum sentence of three years’ imprisonment.

The guilty plea resolves the most serious contested issues in the prosecution but leaves sentencing for a later date. It also concludes the need for an October trial after both defendants accepted responsibility for the affray offense.

Brown’s plea marks the latest legal development for the Grammy-winning performer while bringing the London nightclub case significantly closer to its conclusion.

Drake Surprises Sexyy Red With A Birkin During World Cup Final

Drake and Sexyy Red have developed one of hip-hop’s most talked-about friendships since they first began working together in 2023. Their public exchanges regularly spark speculation, but the playful back-and-forth has consistently come across as two artists leaning into an inside joke rather than confirming anything beyond friendship. That easy chemistry was on display again Sunday when the pair watched the FIFA World Cup final together, drawing almost as much attention as the match itself. Spa
