Black Friday Mall Shooting Sends Shoppers Running For Their Lives

Black Friday is always extra busy with plenty of people trying to get the best deals of the year. So when stores were overflowing with shoppers in Durham, North Carolina, events quickly changed into a chaotic frenzied state. According to TMZ, gunfire broke out at Southpoint Mall, and hit three people, as shoppers panicked and ran for their lives. The event caused mass havoc.

According to police, there is one person who has been arrested in connection to the shooting. Even though officers said there was no additional threat, they closed the mall for the rest of the day. Three people were hit by bullets.

A shopper who arrived at the mall just as the chaos was unfolding caught footage and posted it in a tweet below.

A reporter for an NBC Affiliate made a statement about the shooting and covered the story in a tweet.

I’m currently locked in a store with other shoppers due to a lockdown situation in Streets at Southpoint Mall in #Durham.

We’re waiting to hear from security what prompted this situation.
