'Bernie Mac Show' Actress Camille Winbush Follows Co-Star’s Example, And Joined OnlyFans After Residual Checks Dried Up

Camille Winbush’s involvement with OnlyFans has remained a subject of widespread interest over the years. The actress, known for her role on The Bernie Mac Show, has encountered criticism regarding her decision to join the platform. Recently, Winbush spoke out about the reasons behind her career path.

"People that are outside of the acting world have no place to speak on it," Winbush emphasized in an interview with Comedy Hype. "When people are saying, ‘Oh, those Bernie Mac checks must have dried up,’ I’m like, ‘From a job 20 years ago when I was a 12-year-old? Yeah.’ Like, duh."

Despite acknowledging that she still receives residual payments, Winbush pointed out that these earnings have dwindled over time. "They get smaller and smaller every year," she explained. "You’re not making the same amount that you were when the show was current, per episode. Twenty years later, those checks are not sustainable for a living."

Reflecting on her decision to join OnlyFans, Winbush expressed practicality and empowerment. "If I can find a way to make enough to buy a home from the comfort and safety of my own living room, why wouldn’t I do that?"

Supporting Bernie Mac Show Co-Star Dee Dee Davis

Last year, Winbush defended her and her Bernie Mac Show co-star Dee Dee Davis, who also has an OnlyFans, against online criticism. Both actresses portrayed Mac’s daughters—Winbush as Vanessa Thomkins and Davis as Bryana "Babygirl" Thomkins.

"The trolls are hungry again so here’s some food for thought—I’ve never been arrested, never been on drugs, don’t have any baby daddies, I pay all my taxes, I drink water, and mind the business that pays me," Winbush tweeted.

In 2021, the 34-year-old actress announced her OnlyFans debut on Instagram, stating, “Yes, you heard that right. I have joined OF! But I’m doing it my way - I’ll be saying the things I really want to say, singin’ & dancing, and sharing exclusive content.”

Winbush’s choice to utilize OnlyFans echoes that of other former actresses facing financial challenges. Sopranos star Drea de Matteo recently disclosed turning to the platform during personal and financial difficulties.

“OnlyFans saved my life, 100 percent," Matteo told Daily Mail. "I can't believe I'm saying that, but it really did save us. Anybody that wants to condemn me and put me down, go for it. I just hope you never find yourself in the position I was in to take care of two little kids."

Camille Winbush’s journey with OnlyFans exemplifies the evolving landscape of digital entrepreneurship and personal empowerment in the entertainment industry. Her story underscores the complexities of maintaining financial stability and creative autonomy, challenging societal norms and stereotypes along the way.
