A$AP Rocky Named Ray-Ban's First-Ever Creative Director

A$AP Rocky has landed a major new role in fashion.

The 36-year-old musician and entrepreneur was named Ray-Ban’s first-ever creative director on Friday, Feb. 21. The announcement comes just three days after he was acquitted in his Los Angeles felony assault trial.

With a long-standing presence in the fashion world—having appeared in campaigns, collaborated with Puma, and recently been named a co-chair for the 2025 Met Gala—Rocky will now take on a leadership role at Ray-Ban Studios, where he’ll oversee creative projects and help shape the brand’s future.

He’s already making an impact. In April, Rocky will help launch Ray-Ban’s Blacked Out Collection, a bold reimagining of the brand’s Mega Icons glasses. The collection features “disruptive frames” that blend Ray-Ban’s classic aesthetic with a modern edge, including gold-plated details and ultra-black lenses.

As creative director, Rocky will have the opportunity to design his own eyewear, direct campaigns, and even influence store redesigns, drawing from his deep connections to music, fashion, and the arts.

“I’ve always admired Ray-Ban’s ability to stay true to its roots while constantly evolving,” Rocky said in a statement. “I’m excited to be part of the strong heritage and develop the next chapter for an iconic brand like Ray-Ban.”

Ray-Ban President Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio welcomed Rocky to the brand, emphasizing his creative vision. “For nearly 80 years, Ray-Ban has been on the faces of the most iconic musicians, artists, actors, and cultural leaders,” he said. “[Rocky] is a visionary artist who pushes boundaries in every space he enters, perfectly aligning with Ray-Ban’s pioneering spirit.”

The new position follows Rocky’s recent legal victory. On Tuesday, Feb. 18, a jury acquitted him of two felony assault charges related to a 2021 incident in which he was accused of firing a semiautomatic handgun at former friend A$AP Relli. After a three-hour deliberation, the jury delivered a not-guilty verdict, sparing Rocky a potential 24-year prison sentence.

Now, Rocky and Rihanna are focusing on their family, spending time with their sons, RZA, 2½, and Riot, 18 months. “They have lived in this stressful bubble for the past month. It’s been all about the trial,” a source shared. “They’re planning a family trip to reset and enjoy some quality time together.”

Beyond his Ray-Ban role, Rocky is gearing up for a major year. He will co-chair the 2025 Met Gala alongside Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James as an honorary chair. The event, set for May 5, will celebrate the Costume Institute’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibition. Meanwhile, fans continue to anticipate his upcoming album, Don’t Be Dumb.
