An 8-year-old girl from Maryland is celebrating a historic Grammy win, and she's doing it during Black History Month.

Aura V and her dad, recording artist Fyütch, won a Grammy Award for Best Children's Music Album earlier this month for their father-daughter duo project "Harmony."

With the win, Aura V is now believed to be the youngest Grammy winner in history at just 8 years old, surpassing Beyoncé and Jay-Z's daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, who won in 2021 when she was just 9 years old.

"We didn’t think that we would make history with this award," Fyütch said. “The fact that she did that at age eight. We were like ‘Woah.'"

Harold Simmons III, whose artist name is Fyütch, built his music career after starting with poetry and rap as a student. Now a solo artist known for blending education and activism into his work, he collaborated with his daughter on an album centered on themes of family, gratitude, and learning.

Aura V, a student in the Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) district, began her musical journey early while growing up in a fourth-generation musical family. At 4 years old, she appeared in a short soundbite on her father's album "Family Tree."

"Singing brings me to another world," Aura said. "It's like my happy place."

The pair's album "Harmony" focuses on education, empowerment, and positivity.
